Responsibilities
Mieke Madrid serves as the Downtown Evanston (Main Street Program) Coordinator/Grant Writer for the City of Evanston. Mieke also serves as staff to the Evanston Historic Preservation Commission and the Urban Renewal Agency and supporter of the non-profit, Roundhouse Restoration Inc. She is also a board member of Jumpstart Evanston, an entrepreneurial educational program non-profit supported by the city.
History
Mieke has worked for the City of Evanston since 2006, becoming the grant writer for the city in 2007. She has a bachelor's degree in English and completed her economic development finance professional (EDFP) certification in 2013. Mieke became the coordinator for Downtown Evanston (Main Street Program) in September 2021.
Personal History
Mieke has called Evanston home for over 25 years, marrying a native of Evanston, Jeff, after meeting at the University of Wyoming. She loves being involved in the community and participating in the many downtown activities and events throughout the year. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading suspense novels, hiking/snowshoeing, and watching classic movies.
