Mikal Welling

My name is Mikal Don Welling. I was born and raised in Evanston, Wyoming. I have lived here in the great city of Evanston my entire life with the exception of my college years. I am the son of Don and Afton Welling also of Evanston. I have a beautiful wife Jenny, who is the daughter of Jim and Judy Hatch, also of Evanston. We have five wonderful kids and a great son and daughter-in-law. Colton (24) & Jessica, Katie (21) & Parker, Nathan (19), Kaden (15), Caleb (13). We have also just become proud grandparents of our grandson Preston. Jenny and I are both Evanston High School Graduates and so are our three oldest children. We love supporting EHS sports and activities. GO RED DEVILS. We also enjoy the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, and family gatherings.

I started working at a young age for a landscaping company here in Evanston, installing sprinkler systems and laying sod. I have worked at Smiths Food and Drug as a Courtesy Clerk/Checker and also Superior Rental as a yard man and worked on small engine maintenance. After college I worked for a drafting/survey company doing design work. When the owner retired, I purchased that small business from him and operated it for quite a few years. I then went to work in the oil field and was hired by Chevron USA where I performed design and drafting work for the Painter Plant and Carter Creek Gas Plant. This career later took me to the lead designer position for Chevron in the MOXA field as well as numerous fields in Colorado and New Mexico. I then took a step out of my comfort zone and was made the Management of Change Coordinator and Lead Power User for the Mid-Continent Business Unit within Chevron. this allowed me to travel on occasion for work from Alaska to South Texas. In all of these endeavors, I have met some great people and learned from some wonderful mentors. I am currently employed by Rocky Mountain Power at the Naughton Plant as their Senior Designer.

As a youth, I learned a lot of valuable skills while earning my Eagle Scout Award. I served as a volunteer firefighter with the Evanston Volunteer Fire Department for eighteen years and was department of Treasure/Secretary for ten of those years. I also served as a Wyoming Certified EMT-Intermediate with the Uinta County Ambulance for ten years. I was proud to be a part of these great organizations its citizens.

I love this great community and am grateful for what it has given to my family and I. I want to give back and serve where I can. I am grateful that I was raised in a loving home where values such as integrity, honesty, and morals were taught. I am thankful that Jenny and I have had the opportunity to continue to live here and raise our family the same way we were raised.
